WOOD RIVER PUBLIC LIBRARY BOARD OF TRUSTEES MEETING

- CALL TO ORDER AND ROLL CALL
- Mary Smith, President, called the meeting to order at 6:00 PM.

- A quorum was established.
- A motion was made by Kay Shewmake and seconded by Shelly Steward to:
- APPROVE THE MINUTES AS PRESENTED.
- CORRESPONDENCE AND COMMUNICATIONS
- Diane shared the thank you noted received from Dolores for the flowers sent
- after her knee replacement surgery.
- Lonnie McCoy and Brendon McKee gave a presentation about the school
- school consolidation issue to be present on the April ballot.
- Building/Grounds – FY2011-12 Budget Discussion/Recommendations
- (Allen Lamar – chair, Gail Keefe, Mary Smith)
- Diane presented the recommendations for the building/grounds which includes automation and saving for a new HVAC system for a total package of $35,726.
- A motion was made by Gail Keefe and seconded by Mary Smith to:
- INCORPORATE THE BUILDING & GROUNDS PROPOSAL IN FY2011-12 BUDGET.
- All ayes. Motion carried.
- Personnel – FY2011-11 Budget Discussion/Recommendations
- (Linda Duncan – chair, Harry Feuquay, Dolores Studnicki –absent)
- Diane presented the recommendations for the personnel expenses for a
- total package of $254,634.
- A motion was made by Linda Duncan and seconded by Harry Feuquay to:
- INCOPORATE THE PERSONNEL PROPOSAL IN THE
- FY2011-12 BUDGET.
- All ayes. Motion carried.
- Finance – FY2011-12 Budget Discussion/Recommendations
- (Kay Shewmake – chair, Shelly Steward, Carolyn Winnett)
- Diane reviewed the changes/adjustments of FY2011-12 budget proposal
- compared to FY2010-11 budget.
- A motion was made by Kay Shewmake and seconded by Carolyn Winnett to:
- ACCEPT THE FY2011-12 BUDGET PROPOSAL DRAFT.
- All ayes. Motion carried.
- Consider FY2011-12 Budget Proposal Draft
- A motion was made by Kay Shewmake and seconded by Carolyn Winnett to:
- ADOPT THE FY2011-12 BALANCED BUDGET PROPOSAL AS
- PRESENTED IN THE AMOUNT OF $441,752 AND SUBMIT TO
- THE CITY COUNCIL AND FINANCE DEPARTMENT.
- A Roll Call vote was taken.
- All ayes. Motion carried.
- Approval of Expenditures – expenditures were reviewed and the following
- were discussed in detail:
- Baker & Taylor $2675.03 – should be split out to $2605.02 books, $75.00 reference
- Reilly Belli $1928.27 – tuition
- Various libraries – for materials our patrons borrowed from other libraries and never returned
- GovConnection $694.39 – new fax machine and barcode reader for the circulation desk
- Innovation Experts $275.00 – Gale Virtual Reference Library subscription
- Smit’s $25.99 – flowers sent to Dolores
- A motion was made by Shelly Steward and seconded by Allen Lamar to:
- APPROVE THE EXPENDITURES IN THE AMOUNT OF $31,190.51.
- A Roll Call vote was taken.
- All ayes. Motion carried.
- Financial Statements – FY2010-11 December Reports
- The statements were reviewed and reflect 2/3 of the year’s income/expenses.
- A motion was made by Harry Feuquay and seconded by Kay Shewmake to:
- PLACE THE FY2010-11 DECEMBER STATEMENTS ON FILE.
- Monthly Interest Report – The monthly interest made from the General, Working Cash and Special Reserve Funds was reported.
- The Wood River Public Library Foundation interest was also reviewed.
- LIBRARY DIRECTOR’S REPORT
- Diane shared the following:
- There were 47 attendees at the Illinois Humanities Council Road Scholar program last night
- Kate and Diane will be presenting a program at William M. BeDell on the 28th and hope this is the beginning of a partnership with them
- A motion was made by Harry Feuquay and seconded by Gail Keefe to:
- APPROVE THE LIBRARY DIRECTOR’S REPORT.
