About Our Group:

Betty L. Lackey was instrumental in getting the Library Friends group chartered.  Betty, Ada R. Pauketat, Betty J. Smith, and Blanche D. Elble signed the Articles of Corporation on June 15, 1992 which was filed with the State on July 2, 1992.

The "Friends of the Wood River Public Library Group" holds a variety of fund raising events throughout the year, bringing our community members and staff together for the common cause of creating a better and more innovative learning center for our patrons.

Some of our fund raising activities include an annual bake sale, a quilt raffle, and an inhouse book sale always held during open library hours.  The proceeds from these events have allowed our group to help the Wood River Public Library obtain much needed supplies such as an outdoor book return, book shelving, and the chairs located in the periodical area, computers, books, and DVDs; all of which give our community a very effective, convenient and pleasant learning environment.  The Friends of the library have also donated educational toys for the the juvenile section as well as a colorful United States map area rug.

New members are always welcome, so we would like to encourage all who are interested in becoming a member of this wonderful group to call 254-4832 today for details on how you can be a Friend of the Wood River Public Library.
